Our pioneering work breaks with restrictive leadership traditions. Many leadership styles are caught between colonial management traditions, suppressed African cultural wisdom and addictions to foreign leadership/management thinking. We Africans are tired of suffocating leadership styles and with leadership innovation which amounts to ‘old beer served in new pots’. The Institute therefore develops new leadership solutions - by Africans, for Africans.

African fusion leadership is emerging as a powerful innovation, relating to a quote from American scholar, inventor, philosopher, environmental activist and author Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983):

‘‘You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

The fusion metaphor inspires us towards simplicity and to combine fundamental concepts with extraordinary potential and results – like nuclear fusion in the sun where basic particles combine with massive releases of energy! Our current philosophy invites four main themes into fusion. The future philosophy could invite between seven and nine themes into fusion.
